Eating is a natural, healthy, and pleasurable activity for satisfying hunger.  However, in our food-abundant, diet-obsessed culture, eating is often mindless, consuming, and guilt-inducing instead.  We seldom take the time to really gauge how hungry or full we are, focus on our food or even truly savour a few bites.  As a result, we often eat when we’re not really hungry, and eat too much, too fast and unhealthily.  Diets that teach us to restrict our intake or eliminate certain foods are unsustainable.  Around 95% of people who lose weight by dieting will regain it in 1-5 years, and our dieting can cultivate an unhealthy relationship to food.  Using mindfulness as a tool we become more aware of the patterns we are stuck in without judgment and start to create a space between our triggers and our actions.  This broad application makes mindful eating a powerful tool for developing a healthier, happier relationship with food.

This 8-week Mindful Eating course is designed to help resolve this troubled love-hate relationship with food and break free of the vicious cycle of re-acting mindlessly which often leaves us feeling powerless to change.  You will learn how to:

– finally stop fighting everything food related
– use your body’s cues to help guide your decisions to start and stop eating
– identify & meet your true needs so that you don’t use food to push down your emotions, numb or pacify yourself
– trust your body & self again so that you can eat what you love without guilt or bingeing
– give up dieting, feeling deprived & the restrictive eating mindset for good
– practice self-care for lasting health and optimal wellbeing
