YS ImageYoga Scotland has been at the heart of the yoga community in Scotland for over 40 years and we’re proud to continue our work to help and guide today’s yoga practitioners.  Our courses and training days for teachers seek to help everyone gain greater knowledge and understanding of all aspects of yoga, from the physical poses to the deeper practices of meditation and the underpinning philosophy.
Yoga Scotland offers a range of quality training courses, and stands firm in its commitment to promote and deliver a greater understanding of yoga and its safe practice through experience, education, discussion, study and training.  We’re not interested in quick fixes or yoga intensives.  To be a great (and safe) teacher, we believe you have to show up on your mat and put in the hours.  On completion of a Yoga Scotland course, you will be fully confident in your abilities and knowledge, and truly understand the essence of yoga beyond asana.
Our courses are delivered by highly qualified and experienced tutors and are designed to offer something to all practitioners of yoga – whether you are relatively new to yoga and wish to deepen your understanding and practice through our Foundation and Living Yoga courses, or you wish to train to be a yoga teacher and communicate your love for yoga to others through our Teacher Training course.
It’s often said that once you qualify as a teacher, the learning really begins!  With this in mind, we are passionate about providing a wide and varied programme of ongoing training for all our teachers.  Not only to ensure any teaching qualification and insurance remains valid, but also so that you can continue to develop your passion for yoga on a personal level, and pass on that deeper understanding to your students.

For information on all of the courses we run and our programme of On-Going Training courses please see our website for more information, or contact Tamsin the Training Administrator.

Below is a brief outline of the courses we run at In The Moment.

GLASGOW FOUNDATION COURSE
The Yoga Scotland Foundation Course is offered to students who wish to develop their knowledge of yoga further; it is also a prerequisite for those wanting to train as teachers, prior to taking the Teaching Diploma Course.
This 60-hour course is designed to allow you to explore yoga in more depth than in a typical class, and to expand and consolidate your personal practice.  You’ll have the opportunity to experience many aspects of yoga – from a wide range of asanas, various pranayama techniques, concentration (dharana) and meditation (dhyana) – alongside topics such as the history of yoga and its different paths and schools.
Please note that the Foundation Course is not a teacher training course and does not provide those who complete the course with a teaching qualification.
The next Foundation Courses start in September 2019 and the lead tutor for the Glasgow course is Melanie Cook.  For details of how to apply please visit our website.

TEACHER TRAINING DIPLOMA COURSE
The highly respected and challenging Yoga Scotland Teacher Training is a part-time course, consisting of 500+ hours running over two years.  There are currently two courses in Edinburgh and Glasgow, starting alternate years.  Student teachers will explore a practical and theoretical syllabus that covers anatomy and physiology (including common medical conditions), the practice and teaching of asanas, pranayama, the history and philosophy of yoga, and class management.
Graduates are awarded the Yoga Scotland Teaching Diploma.
Applicants are required to have been practising for a minimum of two years and should also normally have taken our Foundation Course.  Experienced applicants who have not taken a Foundation Course will be seriously considered, however if you have practised for under three years your application for a place on a training course is unlikely to be successful.
COURSE FEATURES

•An acquaintance with some of the major Eastern sources of yoga knowledge and their significance in modern life
•A basic insight into the anatomy, physiology and movement potential of the human body
