I have been training to be a psychodrama psychotherapist since 2010 and I passed my practical exam in May 2016. I stumbled upon psychodrama after completing a certificate in counselling skills and I have been hooked ever since. Psychodrama has enabled me to be more creative and spontaneous in my everyday life and the experience has given me insights that have allowed me to change the way I respond to situations. It has allowed me to reflect on and explore my relationships and past experiences with a safe distance, using actions as well as words. I have met some incredible people on my journey and I feel privileged to have been welcomed in to other people’s worlds by being part of their psychodramas.
Alongside studying psychodrama, I have been working with young people affected by homelessness in supported accommodation projects in Glasgow. I spent a year facilitating issue-based groups on topics such as tackling violence and sectarianism across Glasgow and the west with children and young people. I have been working therapeutically with survivors of abuse since 2014 and I have recently started counselling adults experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues.
I have been running the weekly psychodrama group every Thursday 6.30pm – 8.30pm at In The Moment since July 2015.
